WOYWW WK 59

Really messy desk this week, just mess nothing else, mess on , under and in (the drawers)!
Bad arthritis this week can't hold an inkpad or a stamp so not much art done this week! I hope all you who play along have had a better week than me. To share pop over to Julia's click here and show your creative space!

The Bunting Has Grown

The bunting I am making has grown. Just by 4 tags though, not been a good week for me making anything as my athritis is really bad at the mo.
Here are the 4 new tags a little bigger!

Get the Bunting Out!

Tags are now flags!
I decided to make bunting with my tags. These I shall add to when as I make more backgrounds from Tim's book Compendium of Curiosities.
Each of the tags have been mounted to the flag background, (which I cut from coloured card about an inch longer at the top to make a channel for the ribbon to go through) and stamped on the 'pointy' bit.
I will be hanging these in my studio for inspiration (some I shall write on the back of so I have a reference as to which technique was used).
As my bunting gets longer I will share with you here.

Another week has flown by! This is what is on my desk this week. A few finished tags waiting for me to do something with them. What do you do with the tags that you make? Do you make tags? I like to use tags to 'try things out' but then what do I do with them, well usually I 'string' them all together into a tag book for reference but I would like to do something different this time. So any sugestions?
Here is a closer look at what is on there. A bit of a mess but never mind! Under the scissors are a few first goes with Tims new texture plates, I love these! Haven't acually done anything with them yet just ran them through the Big shot and added some distress inks to see the effect. I am going to play properly later today hopefully!
If you want to see more click here it will take you to Julia's The Stamping Ground where it all happens on a Wednesday!

And the Finished Art.

Text stamp embossed in clear embossing powder and heated, barn door, lipstick and victorian lace distress inks applied over the top. The word 'heart' was done using the waste from Tims letters die and barn door distress ink.
The embelishment is a heart glued to an eco board (2x2) then paper adhered over the top , inked and stamped and 'love' hand writen in silver foil on card.
Stamp 'inked' with white (snow cap) dabber dried and distress over the top then wiped over with a damp tissue to remove distress ink from stamped area. The bird is encased in layers of tissue held together with wax. The 'sing' embelishment is made by adhering Tims letters (die) onto card cover with foil tape and decorating with TSS wheels and other tools.

Black embossed with blue dabber swiped over the top then the excess wiped away with a damp tissue. Tims film strip with La Blanche rub ons in the apertures, the 'journey' embelishment was made the same as before.

The bottom half is distress ink on a craftsheet and spritzed the top is embossed using a cuttle bug folder in the Big Shot and distress inks, the man stamp (Crafty Individuals) the crown and K embelishment is Grungeboard embossed in Tims 'Patchwork' embossing folder through the Big shot coloured with black soot distress ink and gold dabber (crown) and glossy accents (K and the club).

The distress ink on craft mat.
Stamped with black Archival ink with 2 of Tims stamps and a metal embelishment.

A Bit of a Background Play!

Yesterday I had a bit of a play making some backgrounds from Tims Compendium of Curiosities.
These are what I came up with. A couple of distress ink on craft sheet and spritzed, stamping with water, clear embossing with distress ink over the top, stamping with Snow Cap dabber then distress ink over the top, black embossing with dabber paint swiped across it, distress ink stamped and perfect pearls over the top and embossed in an embossing folder and distressed.

'I Love You Fred'

First I'll explain who Fred is. Fred was anyone in our family when I was little, my Mum, bless her was so bad at names she called us all Fred quite a lot, it was her way of not upsetting anyone because she had forgotten their name.
So this 'tag' only came about because when looking for a piece of paper to do the heart embelishment (Tim showed this on his blog a few days ago) I came across this piece, which brought this memory flooding back.
Firstly I cut a heart from grungeboard, this I attached to some card, using Claudines Multi Medium I adhered the book paper over the top taking care to 'mold' it around the heart. Leave to dry (or if you are me hit it with a heat gun!)
I cut a piece of sticky note to cover the words then applied broken china distress ink with an aplicator. This was then stamped with a Paper Artsy swirly stamp.
The background has been run though the Big Shot in an embossing folder twice (first with a caligraphy folder, this I inked with distress and then run it though the Big shot again in fleu d'lis embossing folder then inked this in another distress ink).
The bottom of the tag is an image transfer (the same as the tag in the last post).
The childern is a stamp from The Queens Dresser Drawers which I just cut the children out.

Watch the Birdie!

I thought I would 'do something' with the birdies.
So I made some tags (well they are the same size as the tags I have but I haven't punched a hole in the top or cut off the 'shoulders').

This 'tag' has Tims bird and cage and swirl all in black card, the cage was spritzed with Cosmic Shimmers in blues and purples and some Viva Inca Gold paint in gold was added when dry.
The background is corrugated card with the same background card as the other two (a bit of a theme going on here). Viva Inca Gold in gold around the edges.
The cage etc were attached with glue to the background. Then just add an adage ticket.

In this tag the background was made by running the card through the Big Shot in an embossing folder, then using Distress ink and a blending tool to enhance the detail in a couple of different colours.

The bottom corner is an image transfer (a piece of patterned card 'glued' face down (I used Claudines multi medium gel) burnished and dried then wetted and rubbed until the pattern appears.

Add an Adage ticket (Tims)

Then Paper Artsy stamps to finish off.

This one has background card swiped over with a white ink pad (just to tone down and age it)and edged in Distress ink (concord) then I cut int to my Tim Holtz lost and found pad (finally and with a lump in my throat) to get the photos to go in the film strip also Tims, added a flourish (Tims) and then the bird and finally a 'ticket' stamped in black archival.

This is what my work desk looks like this week! Lots of half finished stuff! Nothing finished at all!
Had one of those weeks where ideas didn't actually go wrong but they didn't really develop either! Oh well never mind I still have the rest of the week! It's so quiet here this week, over the last month I have gotten used to having my son at home after finishing college but this Monday he started his apprenticeship so no more rowdy music blaring out for most of the day! In fact it is so quiet I can actually here my ipod playing, strange!
Also on my desk are my glasses for I can not see much with out them!
So not much going on there so here a just a few of my drawers (Ikea) to the left of my desk with my fave Paper Artsy stamps in!
Some Crafty Individuals and The Queens Dresser Drawers and a few others which I don't know who the manufacturer is, I have had them a long time but they are still some of my faves.

And last but not least lots of lovely Distress inks! (There are more in other drawers, had to have all the colours it would have been rude not to!!!)

So that me done for this week. Go to Julia's blog click here to see more desks!

A couple of Metal Birds.

Tims birdies cut from TSS metal (a few more scraps already embossed) sprayed with Cosmic Shimmers in lots of different colours (what I had left in my mini Misters). The top one I overspayed with Crafty Notions White spray and dried them with a heat gun.
Sorry the photo is a bit dark, they are quite a lot brighter in real life!

Just Take A Plain Old Frame......

This was just a plain wooden frame found for 20p at a local carboot sale.
The bottom left corner has been covered in Viva Terra paint (it's not really a paint more of a textured medium) then stamped into with a open swirly stamp (not inked). When dry the whole frame was covered in Viva Inka Gold paint in gold. This dries quite quickly!
Then the frame was over stamped with Paper Artsy swirly and flower head stamps.
The bird from the same Paper Artsy set was stamped on the back of TSS metal , cut out and then put through the Big Shot in a Sizzix embossing folder. This was then sprayed with Cosmic Shimmers and adhered with Glossy Accents.
